A 2 day (16 hour) course focussing on essential Emergency First Aid skills for outdoor instructors and people who spend time outdoors recreationally. Our courses exceed the minimum requirements outlined by the BCU and MLTUK for paddlesports coaches, SPA instructors and Mountain Leaders.
Our 2 day (16 hour) Emergency Outdoor First Aid course is suitable for SPA climbing instructors, BCU leaders (4 and 5 Star) and coaches (up to Level 3), MLTE Mountain Leaders, Mountain Bike Leaders, Ski Instructors, Sailing Instructors and almost all UK qualified outdoor instructors and teachers requiring a 16 hour first aid certificate. LNC Activities and Training's Emergency Outdoor First Aid courses are all run in a practical, hands-on manner, using multiple role-play scenarios to give candidates opportunities to practice the application of a variety of First Aid techniques in an outdoor environment.
We will spend the minimum amount of time necessary in the classroom covering theory sessions, and as much time as we possibly can outdoors, applying practical First Aid skills and incident management techniques to a variety of scenarios.
Emergency vital signs:
• emergency action and calling for help
• maintaining airways
• unconscious casualties
• breathing and circulation problems
• emergency breathing
• CPR (incorporating British Heart Foundation Heartstart)
Incident management and evacuation:
• casualty and area management
• heat stress (incl. hyperthermia, heat stroke, dehydration)
• cold stress (incl. hypothermia)
• chest pain (incl. Angina)
Types of injury:
• minor conditions (incl. cuts, grazes, bruises, splinters and blisters)
• major bleeds
• crushing injuries
• burns and scalds
• sprains and strains
Treatment of injured areas:
• soft tissue
• eyes and ears
The 2 day (16 hour) Emergency Outdoor First Aid course is certified for three years and exceeds the minimum requirements outlined by the BCU and MLTUK for paddlesports coaches, SPA instructors and Mountain Leaders.
We provide all necessary equipment.
What do you need to bring?
You need to wear sensible outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear, and bring waterproofs in case it rains.
The course runs from 9:00am until approximately 5:30pm on each day.
